Shri Shaligram is believed to have been thousands of years old. Its history can be found in various Puranas like Vishnu Purana, Shiva Puran, and Bhagavad Puran. Shaligram is not found in different rivers or different Countries. But it is only found in Nepal. Even if we get to collect Shaligrams in another country outside of Nepal. But they are not religiously important compared to Nepal Shaligram Shila. Shaligram is also found in Damodar Kund which origin is the same Gandaki River.
